Damian is from a Deaf family as well as being Deaf himself. Bilingual in British Sign Language (BSL level 6) and English. Damian has worked in various roles directly with Deaf people over the past 30 years (national advisor on Deaf issues for another Deaf charity, Deaf-blind running guide, care worker in a Deaf school, and in a care home for Deaf autistic adults) helped to set up Deaf Rainbow – Deaf LGBT charity. He has worked previously in Public Health for a large London Borough (Damian has a Masters in public health and on UK Public Health Register).

I also sit on the BSL Advisory Board for the UK Government (2025-2028 tenure)
